About Menagehsa Forest
Menasgeh Suba National forest is very historical. Emperor Zera Yacob, who reigned Ethiopia from 1434 to 1468, designated it as a “crown forest” In the 15 century. The Story is also connected with environmental protection. When the emperor saw the deforestation of the area and ordered plantation of trees.
Since then it is said to be Menagesha suba forest become the first and the oldest park in Africa, The total area of the park is around 2500 hectares which keeps important natural indigenous trees like juniper and Erica arboreal. It is also home to an endemic antelope like the Minilik Bushbuck.
As the forest is home to many endemic animals, bird species, and vast forests, the area is one of the ideal spots for bird watching, hiking and mountain climbing. Occasionally seen animals are the endemic Menelik’s bush buck, Anubis baboon, Black-and-white colobus monkey and birds.
NB. This tour is not game viewing of Animals but it is all about trekking. Please, don’t be disappointed if you don’t see wildlife.
We will trek in the forest as far as you can and you are fit to do. The longest trekking takes more than 6 hours and it takes us at mount Damocha 3380 meter high, frotere you have panoramic views of the surrounding area and Addis Ababa from the distance.

4 Arrive at the forest and pay your entrance fee to the park.
5 Trekk in to the forest. The goal of the trek can be depending on you and your group. Whether you want to reach the highest pick in the araea or experience only the wild life of the area to seethe enviroment as much as you can
6 picnic luch break in the middle
7 hike or walk down to the park head quarter
8 Drive back to Addis Ababa and drop off at your place hotel or airport.
