Hawasa or Aawasa Happens to lie on the eastern shore of a beautiful Lake called Hawasa. It has been the capital of southern nations and nationalities state but now it becomes the capital city of the newly established Sidama regional. It is a famed resort town in Ethiopia. Hawasa is renowned by many locals as a resort city where friends, couples, and families would like to relax for a few days. The lake is the main attraction to lure many to the city. Hawassa lined trees, a public park with plenty of birds and monkeys are an ideal place to spend a fun time. In the early mornings, many fishermen will come on their boat to the Fish-market to sell their catches of Tilapia, Nile perch & Africa catfish on the shore of the lake. Many locals love to treat themselves to fresh fish is not a surprise as many eat Raw fish meat with spice. In the Fish Market men cuts and make them ready to sell, in the nearby shackle place girls and boys cook and serve the fish.
The fishery is a very important economical activity on lake Hawasa, and for many people consume it as an affordable source of protein, it creates employment & income directly or indirectly & the fresh fish is a delicacy to taste for Visitors.
Hawasa is found in the Territory of Sidama region which is famed for its high-quality coffee production. It also borders with Oromia regional state to the north and south of the lakeshore. After the construction of the Hawass Industrial zone, many international companies moved into the city to produce apparel. The other Industries concentrated in the city are Agricultural products processing, brewing, and textile manufacturing. Hawasa is one of Ethiopia’s largest cities in Ethiopia.
