Ethiopia is aware that obtaining visas in embassies around the world wastes time, money and inconvenience to tourists. The country now offers electronic visas to tourists from all countries. E-visa is the easiest way to get an Ethiopian visa. Citizens of all countries can process and obtain an e-Visa by submitting the required documents and make an online payment for the visa fee.
However, citizens of African countries who are unable to make online payments can apply for an e-Visa and pay the fare upon arrival at the airport.

Points to consider about the E-visa visa
- The e-Visa application fee is paid at the time of application and is generally non-refundable.
- Only 30-days and 90-days single-entry visas are available.
- Under normal circumstances, the normal processing time for an e-Visa can take up to 3 days, so it is best to apply it a few more days before traveling.
- you must verify that your passport is valid for at least six months, from the date of your entry,
- You must upload a scanned copy of your passport and the most recent passport-size digital photo of you.
- Holders of an e-Visa can enter to Ethiopia only at Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport. Entry to the land border is not allowed.
- The period of validity of the e-Visa starts from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia, not from the date of issue.
- The validity period of the electronic visa starts from the day you enter the country and expires 30 days after your arrival. If your arrival date has changed from the dates you requested on the form, please contact the e-visa support team at Support@evisa.gov.et to adjust the e-visa validity period.
- Citizens of African countries who cannot pay for an e-Visa online can apply for it online and pay in cash upon arrival at the airport.
