Day 1: Drive to Danakil Depression – Hamed Ela
Meet up at the airport or at Your Hotel. Join the group to Danakil Depression Trip. We start driving to Hamed Ela. On arrival at Berehale, the 180 Km from road will take you a a scenic landscape that changes while you start dropping from the highland of Mekele 2,220 Meter below sea level, to the Danakil depression below sea Level. It has full of eye-catching scenic landscape, That changes evry time you move into The Danakil Depression is one of the most inhospitable places in the world.
The area is economically very important as source of salt. Many traditional salt miners still make a living by traversing the desert and bring salts to the highland. On our way we may see Camel caravans caring salt out of the Danakil.
Overnight camping in Hamed Ela.
Day 2: Dallol – Mekele – Addis Ababa
Early in the morning after having a breakfast we will drive to Ragad (Aseboto see the traditional salt miners. Here they break breaking of the solidified salt rock into rectangular Salt bars that will be loaded on the camels and shipped to the highlands of Ethiopia. where many farmers use it for cattle feeding.
After wards we drive ahead to Dallol the lowest point at 116 meter below sea level. Dallol is unique other worldly Landscape with a none stop volcanic activity that create colorful hot springs, Sulfuric lake , Salt mountains, and flat salt desert.
Drive back to Mekelle.
