Bahir Dar is the Capital city of Amhara Region. Situated on the southern shores of Lake Tana and the outlet of Blue Nile River.
Bahir Dar is a beautiful city with trees lined avenues. Riding on a boat to lake Tana Monasteries and watching the sunset disappear into the mountain is one of the best moment to see on lake Tana. Over the last decades, Bahrdar has grown from a sleepy lake side town into a thriving biggest city in Ethiopia. The population of Bahir Dar is around 318,429 people, and the city is found on 1,800m (5,900ft) above sea level. On Saturday there is a weekly market where many people gathered from all the surrounding area.

HOW TO GET AROUND Bahir Dar
You can hire a car for day trip to Blue Nile falls or take a public bus that leaves every one or two hours, take Bajaj or the Tuk Tuk to get around in the city. 5 Birr on shared on designated routes or deending on the distance 50 Birr on private ride.
